Flags

Flags

I like how the flags are constructed as make-shift, gestural forms. They are one person’s impressions of flapping flags. The small pieces of wood nailed together remind me of kid-made cubby-houses. The plastic play equipment I’m used to in Australia, looks like it just fell out of the one factory that drops the same things in all the playgrounds.

Exhibit at the Jewish Museum

The display boxes in this room light various family photos. Through the head phones you can listen to corresponding stories about what it was like for the people featured, to grow up Jewish in different times and places.

The Jewish Museum

The Jewish Museum

This is the best museum I have ever been to. One of the things mentioned in the culture section is that learning is very highly valued in Jewish culture. The whole design of the museum makes you feel inquisitive, intellectually and emotionally engaged. The information is presented in lots of different and interesting ways. Exploring the exhibits makes you feel like you have researching super powers, that mean you can rifle through information for hours and not get bored or tired. It’s dark here because we’re leaving at closing time. I actually came back twice it was so good.
